Merolla's Music Lessons in Yardley offers several programs that provide superior group piano instruction for children. Making music and making friends combine in classes to create a rewarding musical experience. A class takes on a spirit and energy that is impossible to achieve in individual lessons. Group lessons afford students a great opportunity in which to obtain strong musical skills. Students that learn in groups typically acquire a good feel for rhythm and are better able to maintain a steady tempo than those who take individual lessons. Also, the camaraderie achieved in the group atmosphere motivates the students to go home and practice so that they can return to their next lesson ready to play well with their peers. In a group environment they are constantly sharing and performing music, building not only their confidence and self esteem, but also strong social skills which they will be able to call upon in the future.

We use the Maryann Cole Piano Method for our PRE-K, School Age, and older beginners. It is the leading group piano method in the United States.

After thoroughly reviewing and using a variety piano programs on the market we have found this method to be the most developmentally appropriate and easiest way for children to learn to read music while having fun learning piano.

This method offers a comprehensive approach that appeals to different learning styles and activity levels. For children, keyboard practice, fun sheets (note reading), rhythmic movement, theory games, and ensemble playing are included in each class. Classes are taught in a small group format and children or adults have the camaraderie of learning and playing together while still getting individual attention from the instructor. Parents are included in the end of each class so that children can show them what they have learned each week and review what they will be taking home to work on until the next lesson.

Home materials include a practice book with theory fun sheets plus CD (each piece recorded in 3 different speeds)

Blast Off!! - launch into the world of music.....

Blast Off!! is the perfect introduction to the piano. It is a month long course consisting of five 50 minute lessons.

Designed for children ages 5 to 10 (K-5th grade), Blast Off!! teaches the first steps to piano playing readiness: rhythm notes and keyboard geography. By the end of the course students are playing fun songs with accuracy, competence; and most of all, enjoyment!

Blast Off!! is taught in groups. Students are placed in small groups with other students their own age. The students learn together, share music together, generate lots of excitement; but most of all they have loads of fun! A group situation takes on a spirit and energy that is impossible to achieve in an individual lesson.
The camaraderie achieved in a group atmosphere also motivates them to go home and practice so that they can return for the next lesson ready to play well with their peers! Students in groups learn extremely quickly by participating with the other students to conquer new skills and songs. Plus, the fear and intimidation that students experience in private lessons is eliminated; every lesson is a performance for their peers, not just a teacher or room full of strangers!
